The exhibition consists of two parts: the space installation management sculpture with several groups more again in addition developed photographies and a group of large and small Mind Bubbles.
With the management sculpture worm refers to Joseph Beuys' installation Voglio vedere le mie montagne of 1971, which itself for his part on the last words Giovanni Segantintis (1858-1899) (I would like to see my mountains) - it wished its dying bed more near at the window - referred. Beuys' installation consists of a large cabinet with oval mirror on the left side. A bedstead faces right. Between bed and cabinet a high transportation crate open at a side as well as a low felling trees peace stand, on which a rotten Holzstück lies. On a bolster covered with sulfur is set up with fat of in-lubricated mirrors. In bed lies a photography, which shows Beuys attraction and with walking staff lying in the hand in evenly this bed. Beside the cabinet, in addendum, a portrait hangs of Beuys. Each of these articles is named chalk. On the cabinet "Vadrec [t] stands"(glacier); on crate, chest and bolster "Sciora"(rock, mountain range) and "Cime"(summit) and on the bed "Walun" (valley). All articles, cabinet, transportation crate, felling trees peace, bolsters and bed are connected at the ground with a copper construction. Of the cover, in the center of the triptychonartigen Halbrunds of the installation, hangs to scarcely round lamp which is enough on the ground, which lights up round piece of felt brightly. Worm transfers the substantial elements to management sculpture and creates with its procedural instructions an ironical playing of the Beuys' original down, which brings up for discussion the cyclic rhythm of lives and offenses. With the Mind Bubbles avails itself worm of the form of the potato, a Unform, which always reminds despite broadest variation options of an earth apple and she dresses in different cord commodity. It refers thereby equally to earlier work as e.g. ME and ME Fat (arranging in layers numerous articles of clothing at the body) and on thought blisters, which we know from Comics and which Wurms procedural instructions accompany again and again for one minute of sculptures.
Erwin worm * 1954 in Bruck/Mur, lives and works in Vienna, is one of the most important artists of the present. Worm is a conceptual sculptor. It always concerns to it skulpturale questions, transformations from volumes, which open that surprisingly new view of the world. Its procedural instructions create temporary, mobile, ephemere - living sculptures. The viewer becomes the participant, who brings himself into absurd-amusing situations, in whom it experiences makes, which he would normally avoid under all circumstances: Who wants to make itself already ridiculous!
The large retrospective exhibitions Erwin Wurms 2006 to 2008 in the Mumok Vienna, dyke gate resounding Hamburg, Ludwig forum Aachen, Musée Contemporain Lyon and Kunstmuseum pc.
