Opening of the VISUALIZAR'08: DATABASE CITY developed project showcase. During this international two-week workshop-seminar for the collaborative development of eight urban contexts related data visualization prototypes. These prototypes tackle different ways of approaching and understanding big data volumes that cities generate in a daily basis, from artistic, creative or vindicative points of view.

The project aims to make visible the microscopic and invisible agents of Madrid's air (gases, particles, pollen, diseases, etc) to see how they perform, react and interact with the rest of the city. With 3d modeling tools we will build up the space they generate for an on-line dynamic model, where through data crossing behavior patterns will emerge.

++Density Happens: Cause and Effect in Urban Demography, Landscape and Lifestyle

This project takes as its starting points two cities on two extreme opposites of the planet, but also wide apart in the spectrum of urban design. Between and around these two cities, Density Happens will deploy a continuum of measurements, analyses and visualisations of how different cities solve the diferent challenges posed by the need for urban living.

Eco-visualization[EV] aims to provide dynamic visualization of invisible variables of environmental information and hormonally active synthetic agents such as synthetic chemical substances, neurotoxins, DDT, PCBs, dioxins, bisphenol-A (BPA), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), octilphenol (OP), asbestos, CFCs, etc., as well as the associated effects on human and non-human organisms.
