After
Exodus at a wine cellar in Masroig (Catalonia, Spain),
Jordi Abelló presents his new project,
Portraits. During the last six months he has been painting faces on A3 sheets. One of the series, titled
Shout, has been based on the gorillas facial traits, which have been humanized until becoming a human shout. Attention has focused now on expressions and, mainly, on the face architecture as a carrier of emotions.
Eight of these portraits were exhibited at the Barcelona's Zoo, inside the gorillas habitat. The artist was interested in bringing this stare back to the primates, who were the origin of the series. The results of this unique experience will be projected at Artloft so everybody can see the gorillas' reaction.
Shout will be accompanied by four more series called
Drama,
Beauty,
Smile and
Monstrosity. All of them are a catalogue of human moods.
