The Spanish artist Javier Peñafiel (Zaragoza, 1964) shows to his work in ARCO-07 in stand of the Joan Prat Gallery of Barcelona.

Egolactante en pérdida
One of the terrors of the present is to verify that the childhood, its space and its experience, are lost prematurely. It is normal to see young that soon they let live the nonproductive space on the childhood, the place where the cares must be complete and unconditional, by one precipitated immersion in the world of the adults, when not directly in the one of the exploitation. On the other hand the world of the adults greedily consumes rolls and products of infantile appearance, something as the ghost of the game.

Egolactante is a process of work initiated in 1997 that from the beginning it wanted to inform into the multi-pretenciosidad of the ego predator. This time as one of the projects of ARCO-07 wants to notify of that disaster of our biological times, where we did not gain age but that we act like the birdshocks of the new fears which, the loss of the different ages from the life, involve.

Chus Martinez has said: "The work of Javier Peñafiel can be defined as a personal exercise, an internal battle between critical reason and poetic authority. The common denominator of his work is the permanent effort to discover, and uncover for us, the fact that modern myths are nothing but a projection of human desires, anxieties and miseries. So as to come face to face with this brave task, Peñafiel gives life to one of his most highly honed characters: the Egolactante (the Egofeeder). This is an odd reinvention of the Romantic double, the other of oneself, the desacralized author that the author, Peñafiel himself, launches into the world so that he might end up taking the "beating". In fact this seems to be all the same for him, and the only time that he does not show this posture is in some minimal drawings, though sometimes he expands to occupy a full-sized poster. Yet his hand always there just behind his entire work, whether it is manifested as a diary or a video.
Language, poetic proto-language, improvisation, technology, science and a mysterious way of looking at what is happening around him are the keys of this new personal mythology that is represented throughout the work of Javier Peñafiel.
